You already know it.

But I laugh when they use the word -or the term- to characterize someone who happens to have a different opinion, or point of view.  There is a purpose on this, of course. It’s obvious, isn’t it ?

It’s wonderful to be a Skeptic, but who isn’t ?  Fortunately, you still have the right to think whatever you want, whatever you like, whatever you wish, the most wonderful nonsense, the most brilliant ideas.

So, dear journalists, you better use some other words.  Like “controversialist”, “dissenter”, “arguer”, etc.
