I taste wine the way I taste you,

This is wonderful !…

A Writer's Soul

I taste wine the way I taste you,
Slowly,
Inhaling to make sure I know what I’m getting into,
Sip first,
I can’t choke on something this delicate,
I swirl it in the glass,
Weighing the options of my next choice,
Inhale, exhale, you’re all I sense,
Maybe just one more sip,
To be sure…

You taste like whiskey,
And I’m not used to that,
It’s wild,
Untamed and liberating,
But I’m afraid,
You come with no control,
And you continue to pour shot after shot into my glass,
So out of place,
Stained my wine with that sweet honey flavor,
So unlike the cherry and grape,
So different to my tastes,
Yet…
I still reach for the glass,
Grip it tight and hope each taste of you will go down smoother,
Cheers darling,
To the last glass you’ll ever drink with me.
